January 2030

We left off in an excellent position. Things are even better now.

The Recruitment Team

A very quiet transfer window. I mentioned in my previous post that a few players were becoming unsettled. Fortunately, we managed to appease Duvnjak and get him signed to a new contract before we lost him for nothing. He is with us, contractually, for another few years at least. If his game time doesn’t improve next season I will look to move him on, though.

Jacky Rault, however, was not so pleased.

The Transfer Market

Always a nervous time. Especially the January transfer window, but we were lucky to have avoided any major transfers out and go into the remainder of the season with the squad in tact.

Stade Rennais Transfers Out

I have a bad feeling about this move.

Jacky Rault, Midfielder | 6 month loan | to Liverpool

I really didn’t want Jacky to leave. I wish Hannes could see the player that I see. Unfortunately, with his Current Ability being below the two midfielders ahead of him, he’s just not getting the game time he deserves. It’s a shame, but I guess that’s what separates humans from the AI.

I cannot afford to have a €55m asset sitting on the bench collecting €190,000 per week in wages, so this could signal the end of his time with us, unfortunately.

Stade Rennais Transfers In

None.

Youth player promotions

No one from the youth team has come through into the first team since the start of the season.

The Coaching Team

January, otherwise known as Coupe de France month.

Despite playing the same XI as often as he can, Hannes has this team purring. They’re showing resilience when not playing well, and getting goals from all over the pitch.

Nacev is back from injury and hitting the net again. Ayari continues to show why I was wrong to try and sell him last season. Almada, well, he’s just brilliant isn’t he?

The league table is looking very good right now.

Here’s to the rest of the season.

That just about wraps up another January update. Super confident going into the final stages of the season. If we can keep everyone fit and happy, then we should achieve great successes once again!

As always, you can get in touch with me in the comments below, or via twitter @fmfutbolmanager.

Until next time, à tout à l’heure.
